Description:
The Non-Ferrous Supervisor oversees the daily operations of our non-ferrous recycled metals department. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing workflow efficiency in the handling and processing of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the sorting, grading, and processing of non-ferrous metals.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Train and lead a team of teammates, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Maintain accurate records of material weights, grades, and shipments.
- Conduct quality control checks on incoming and outgoing materials.
- Coordinate with logistics and sales teams to meet production and delivery goals.
- Monitor and maintain equipment, scheduling repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, including conducting regular physical audits in line with company standards.
- Enforce company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in non-ferrous metal recycling, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of non-ferrous metals recycling processes, equipment, and industry standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot equipment or operational issues quickly.
- Ability to operate forklifts, balers, and other processing equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Basic computer skills for reporting and inventory tracking.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, lifting, and operating machinery for extended periods.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
