The selected candidate must be comfortable working core EST hours. Position Overview We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to provide immediate, focused support for 1099 tax season. This role is high-volume and transitions between technical invoice processing and intensive vendor relations. A significant portion of this engagement involves resolving a backlog of approximately 4,000 returned, undeliverable 1099 tax documents. You will • Review returned 1099 forms, document reasons for return, and research multiple systems to identify the originating business area. • Utilize strong working knowledge of 1099 MISC, INT, and NEC forms to generate corrections and ensure adherence to IRS filing requirements. • Partner with IT Finance and Project Managers to identify and resolve data inconsistencies across various data sources. • Manage high-volume 1099 inquiries (phone and email) from vendors and recipients with a professional, calm demeanor. • Perform three-way matching of invoices to purchase orders and ensure proper approvals using Oracle (iExpense) and Ariba. • Handle difficult or escalated calls regarding tax forms or payments, requiring "thick skin" and strong conflict resolution skills. Required Qualifications •Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field and minimum of 3 years of Accounts Payable experience with a strong understanding of the full AP cycle -OR- High School Diploma and minimum of 7 years of Accounts Payable experience with a strong understanding of the full AP cycle. •Specialized experience with 1099 forms (MISC, INT, and NEC) and the IRS correction process. •Advanced Excel skills, specifically with Pivot Tables and Queries. •Must be tech-savvy. •Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to de-escalate upset individuals. Preferred Qualifications •Previous experience in the Healthcare or Insurance industries. •5+ years of experience in AP Processing.
