Responsibilities: Use AMS curriculum standards to teach students above and below grade-level through a differentiated approach Attending weekly professional development and meetings with grade level team/professional learning communities Communicating with parents and leading parent-student-teacher meetings to facilitate progress in and outside of the classroom Coordinating with administrators and other staff members to create an environment focused on meeting students' academic and behavioral needs Using measurable data, track student performance and enrich their progress with visible results Together, with support from our network, contribute to the improvement of practices and procedures that will build upon our success Use PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to guide student progress in developing social and emotional skills that will help them navigate a path to higher learning Compensation and Benefits: $42,000 - $47,000 year-round salary (DOE) and $2500 Sign-on Bonus! Central Ave. #302, Phoenix, AZ or 2980 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ - Serving our network of campuses in Phoenix and Tucson Arizona Start: Immediately The District Deputy Director of English Language Arts Curriculum and Instruction will oversee the network's ELA instructional team consisting of K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 specialists as well as plans to implement and coach high-impact literacy practices across grades 3-8 in all content areas across the curriculum. This position will also work to oversee the network's large initiatives this year around integration ELA standards within other core content areas and create a cohesive vision of reading and writing across the curriculum. The ideal candidate loves to learn about what it takes to improve student learning in English Language Arts across grades K-8 and has a track record of increasing student achievement in ELA and leading teams to increased achievement in ELA. Responsibilities: 1. Oversee the daily work of the ELA content specialists on the network team and report to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction 2. Integration of the network's key initiatives of the year within the ELA network team including: (1) best practices of adult learning and integrating the AMS Essentials within training (2) lesson planning which aligns DOK to depth and rigor of AzM2 (3) ongoing support of schools by the network ELA content specialists. 3. Provide training to teachers, coaches, and school leaders on high-impact literacy practices in grades 3-8. 4. Incorporating ELA standards within the social studies pacing guide and creating a social studies pacing guide. 5. Creating common reading and writing expectations in grades K-8 across all subjects including: number of books read per year independently and during class, number of short length and longer length assignments, research and other project-based writing. 6. Training teachers of all content areas to use a common writing rubric, integrating reading comprehension into other subject areas 7.
