Job Description Job Description Senior/Experienced Accountant - Public Accounting Location: Houston, TX Firm Type: Small public accounting firm Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role We are a public accounting firm in Houston seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a close-knit firm environment, enjoys direct client interaction, and wants more ownership over their work than a large firm typically allows. Key Responsibilities Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and S-corp tax returns for a diverse client base Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide advisory support Identify process improvements and tax-saving opportunities for clients Perform tax planning and research for clients across various industries Prepare and review compiled financial statements for closely-held businesses Reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and manage general ledger activity Supervise or mentor junior staff/bookkeepers as the firm grows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required CPA license (active) strongly preferred; CPA candidates with relevant experience will be considered Minimum 1-3 years of public accounting experience Strong knowledge of tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax) and QuickBooks Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines Ability to work independently in a small-firm environment with limited hierarchy What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience Company Description Calloway, Stinson & Co PC is a CPA firm providing accounting, consulting and tax services to a variety of business clients.
