Job Description Job Description The Hoist Operator/Elevator Attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of manual hoists on multi-story construction sites. This role involves transporting workers, tools, and heavy materials between floors while maintaining strict safety standards and coordinating closely with site personnel. Reporting to the site supervisor, the operator ensures proper load management, access control, and site cleanliness to support smooth construction progress within a single-site assignment. Responsibilities Operate manual hoists to transport workers, tools, and materials safely between floors Strictly monitor elevator weight capacities, calculating limits for irregular loads to prevent overloading Communicate with site personnel, crane operators, and ground crews using radios or intercoms to coordinate loading and unloading Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of safety devices, brakes, limit switches, and communication systems Prevent unauthorized personnel, visitors, or untrained workers from accessing the hoist Maintain cleanliness inside the hoist car to avoid debris-related hazards Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and site policies Required Qualifications Valid Construction Hoist Operator certification or relevant state/local hoisting license 1-3 years experience operating personnel hoists or industrial elevators on large construction projects Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions; capable of standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and climbing stairs or ladders Strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills for safe operation in fast-paced environments Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of construction hoist operation experience Technical training in construction or machinery operations OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction certification Company Description At LaborMax Staffing, our vision is to provide unparalleled customer service, personalized support, and life-changing opportunities.
