Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Lead Man Welder/Fabricator is a working leader responsible for coordinating and performing structural steel fabrication, welding, miscellaneous metal fabrication, equipment installation, and field construction activities. This position works alongside the crew while providing daily direction, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications and company quality standards. The Lead Man serves as the primary point of contact for the crew and communicates project progress, material needs, and field issues with the Project Manager. Candidates must possess current FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding certifications or have MINIMUM 8 years welding experience Key Responsibilities Lead and work alongside assigned shop and field personnel while promoting teamwork and productivity. Coordinate daily work assignments and ensure work is completed according to project schedules and priorities. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and welding symbols. Lay out materials and verify dimensions before fabrication or installation. Perform structural steel fabrication, welding, fitting, assembly, and miscellaneous metal fabrication. Perform structural steel installation, equipment setting, and welding in the field. Ensure all work meets Larimore's quality standards and customer specifications. Monitor crew productivity, workmanship, and safety throughout each project. Identify material shortages, equipment needs, and potential project issues, and communicate them promptly to the Project Manager. Assist with training and mentoring less experienced employees. Operate shop equipment including forklifts, saws, ironworkers, presses, and other fabrication equipment. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer safety requirements. Complete daily reports, quality documentation, and other required paperwork accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area. Assist with loading, unloading, deliveries, and other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 8 experience in structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, millwright work, or industrial construction. Previous experience leading or directing crews preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with Project Managers, customers, and crew members. Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills. Ability to coordinate work while maintaining production schedules. Ability to identify and resolve field and fabrication issues independently. Valid driver's license with reliable transportation Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and symbols Must be able to read blueprints and specifications Possess good math skills Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Attention to detail Ability to work independently and within a team environment Ability to safely lift and move materials in a shop environment and stand for extended periods Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship Dependable attendance and professional work ethic Must be able to use industry standard layout tools for structural steel Certifications Required: FCAW, SMAW, GMAW Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification Millwright or industrial maintenance experience Compensation & Benefits Larimore's Millwright Services LLC offers a competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong welding and fabrication skills while maintaining Larimores' high standards for quality, safety, productivity, and professionalism. This position requires current FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding certifications or MINIMUM 5 years welding experience and the ability to produce high-quality work in both shop and field environments. Key Responsibilities Follow instructions and interpret blueprints and schematics, and supervisor direction to ensure accurate fabrication and installation Lay out material according to specification on prints Perform fabrication, welding and structural welding Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications. Lay out, fit, fabricate, and weld structural steel and miscellaneous metal components according to project requirements. Complete all required documentation related to work performed and materials used Perform structural welding using FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes. Fabricate and install stairs, handrails, guardrails, platforms, structural steel, and other miscellaneous metal products. Perform shop fabrication, assembly, finishing, painting, installation, and material handling as required. Operate fabrication equipment and shop machinery safely and efficiently, including saws, forklifts, grinders, ironworkers, and other related equipment. Perform field installation, welding, repairs, and equipment modifications at customer job sites. Conduct quality inspections throughout each project to ensure work meets company and customer specifications. Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer safety requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Complete required documentation related to production, materials, and completed work. Assist with receiving deliveries, loading materials, and other shop or field responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, miscellaneous metals, and industrial construction.
