Diesel Technician Duties: Diagnose, document, and repair engine, transmission, and major component fault codes using company-supplied laptops and OEM software while following proper warranty procedures. Perform troubleshooting, service, and repair on all components as well as preventative maintenance and reconditioning. Demonstrate well-developed technical and troubleshooting skills with effective problem-solving abilities. Attend OEM and dealer training online as well as in-person when required. Requirements: 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic. Formal training in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Class 3-7 vehicles is preferred but not required. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and drivers, demonstrating teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Participation in Continuous Improvement Initiatives and the DTNA Elite Support Program. Diesel Technician Responsibilities Diagnose, document, and repair engine, transmission, and major component fault codes using OEM software and diagnostic tools. Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, chassis components, and aftertreatment systems. Complete preventative maintenance and vehicle reconditioning. Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and strong problem-solving abilities. Attend OEM and dealership training programs, both online and in person, as required. Maintain accurate repair documentation and follow warranty procedures. Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a diesel technician, fleet mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or equivalent. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Ability to independently diagnose and repair engine, transmission, electrical, drivability, chassis, and aftertreatment systems. Experience using OEM diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools. Formal diesel training and OEM certifications preferred. Cummins and Allison certifications are highly desirable. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
