Job Description Job Description Job Title: CNC Mill/Lathe Set-up Multi-Task Operator Department: CNC Reports To: CNC Manager Employment Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary The CNC Mill/Lathe Set-up Operator is responsible for the setup, operating, and monitoring CNC milling and lathe machines to produce precision parts according to drawings, specifications, work orders, and quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, safe work practices, basic troubleshooting skills, and the ability to inspect parts using precision measuring tools. Work Schedule: 2nd shifts (2:30pm - 12am) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC Multi-Tasking Lathes with Fanuc controls. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications to determine machining requirements. Select appropriate tools, fixtures and materials for each job, ensuring accuracy and precise measurement. Collaborate with the production team to determine optimal machining methods and sequences for each product. Monitor machine operations, adjusting as necessary to ensure proper functioning and quality output. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines, identifying and resolving any issues to minimize downtime. Perform quality control checks on finished products, using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and specifications. Maintain accurate records of production data, including setup time, cycle time and quantities produced. Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in machining, manufacturing or a related field preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of CNC mill and/or lathe operation experience preferred. Ability to read and understand blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T callouts. Working knowledge of CNC machine operation, tooling, fixtures, offsets, and basic machine shop practices. Ability to use precision measuring instruments and verify parts to specification. Basic math skills, including decimals, fractions, geometry and measurement conversions. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently and communicate effectively with team members.
