Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: Senior Estimator / Estimating Lead Reports to: Head of Sales & Estimating Work Environment: Office-based role using industry-standard steel estimating software. Key Responsibilities Prepare and coordinate detailed cost estimates for complex structural and miscellaneous steel projects. Ensure accurate, consistent, and traceable takeoffs with strong risk awareness across bids. Lead and mentor a team of estimators; provide guidance and performance feedback. Review and validate estimates prepared by junior team members. Issue and track RFIs to General Contractors and incorporate responses into final pricing. Collect, evaluate, and compare vendor, subcontractor, and supplier quotes. Analyze company data and monitor budgets and pricing trends using estimating tools. Review project documents (drawings, specifications, proposals) to determine labor, material, cost, and timeline requirements. Prepare detailed cost reports, bid summaries, and project recaps for leadership review. Occasional local travel (no overnight travel required). Candidate Profile Strong communicator and collaborative team player with a positive attitude. Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective time manager with strategic planning abilities. Comfortable working cross-functionally with contractors, suppliers, and internal leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 8+ years of experience in structural and/or miscellaneous steel estimating. Strong understanding of steel design, fabrication, and erection processes. Familiarity with applicable industry standards and codes. Experience soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotes. Hands-on experience with RFIs, scope reviews, and budget tracking. Preferred Qualifications Experience with steel estimating software (e.g., Trimble PowerFab or similar). Strong skills in cost validation and risk assessment. The firm focuses primarily on Criminal Defence, DWI defence, traffic matters, landlord-tenant disputes & personal injury cases, serving clients across Northern Virginia. The practice is known for its client-centred approach, ensuring clients feel supported and informed throughout the legal process. This role offers a strong opportunity for an attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy and is looking to expand their experience while working closely with experienced litigators. The position includes a competitive compensation structure with uncapped bonus potential, rewarding performance and case outcomes. Key Responsibilities Represent clients in Criminal & Traffic matters, including infractions, misdemeanours, and felonies from initial consultation through trial and appeal where necessary.
