Position Summary The Interventional Cardiac Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care to patients across the interventional cardiology and electrophysiology service lines. This role encompasses inpatient and outpatient management, procedural assistance, and care coordination for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac interventions. The NP works collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care throughout the continuum. Key Responsibilities Outpatient and Inpatient Care Evaluate and manage patients with a range of cardiovascular conditions in collaboration with interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists. Conduct comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments. Develop, implement, and adjust evidence-based treatment and management plans. Provide supervised inpatient consultations, follow-up assessments, and discharge planning for patients within the interventional cardiac domain. Educate patients and families regarding cardiac disease management, procedures, medications, and lifestyle modification. Manage medication therapy (e.g., antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, antiarrhythmics, heart failure medications) under collaborative practice guidelines. Facilitate smooth transitions of care and post-procedure follow-up coordination. Procedural Support Assist physicians in cardiac catheterization, structural heart, and electrophysiology procedures. Perform pre-procedure evaluations, obtain informed consent, and ensure patient readiness for intervention. Support intra-procedural monitoring, sedation, and hemodynamic assessment within scope and credentialing. Provide immediate post-procedure care, recovery management, and patient/family education. Participate in the development and implementation of procedural protocols and quality improvement initiatives. Collaboration and Professional Practice Collaborate closely with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, general cardiologist, nursing staff, technologists, and ancillary services to optimize care delivery. Serve as a resource and educator for staff and patients regarding interventional cardiac procedures and management. Participate in program development, quality improvement projects, and research initiatives across the cardiac service line. Maintain current licensure, certification, and continuing education in advanced cardiac care and procedural support. Qualifications Education: Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Licensure: Current RN and NP license in the State of California. Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; additional cardiac specialty certifications (e.g., RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or CCT) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in interventional cardiology or electrophysiology preferred; prior procedural or inpatient cardiology experience strongly desired. Skills Strong cardiac assessment, ECG, and rhythm interpretation skills. Competence in managing patients before, during, and after cardiac procedures. Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making abilities. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment.
