Position Overview We are seeking an Epic Pharmacy Informaticist to support the design, build, optimization, and maintenance of Epic's pharmacy-related modules. This role bridges clinical pharmacy expertise with healthcare IT, ensuring that Epic applications effectively support medication management, clinical decision support, and safe, efficient workflows for providers and patients. The ideal candidate will be a licensed pharmacist or experienced pharmacy informatics professional with Epic certification in Willow (Inpatient or Ambulatory) or related modules, and proven experience working with pharmacy operations and clinical teams. Key Responsibilities System Configuration & Support Build, configure, and maintain Epic Willow Inpatient, Willow Ambulatory, Willow Inventory, or Beacon modules. Implement medication workflows, order sets, formulary updates, and clinical decision support tools. Ensure integration of pharmacy systems with Epic and external applications (robotics, dispensing systems, automated cabinets, etc.). Clinical Collaboration Partner with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and IT staff to optimize medication-use processes. Translate pharmacy practice needs into Epic workflows that improve patient safety and efficiency. Provide subject matter expertise on medication management and regulatory compliance. Testing & Quality Assurance Develop and execute test plans for upgrades, new features, and enhancements. Troubleshoot, resolve, and document system issues. Participate in change management processes, ensuring safe implementation of updates. Training & End-User Support Develop training materials and provide education to pharmacy and clinical staff. Act as a liaison between pharmacy end-users and IT. Support end-users with go-live activities, upgrades, and ongoing optimization. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure Epic pharmacy workflows comply with state/federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, and medication safety requirements. Support data/reporting needs for quality improvement, compliance, and operational performance. Qualifications Education/Certification: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy preferred. Current pharmacist license (active and in good standing) preferred. Epic Willow certification (Inpatient, Ambulatory, or Inventory) required Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of pharmacy informatics or healthcare IT experience. Prior Epic build/support experience strongly preferred. Clinical pharmacy practice experience (inpatient, ambulatory, or oncology) highly desirable. Skills: Strong understanding of medication-use processes, formulary management, and clinical decision support. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and workflow design skills. Effective communicator, able to bridge technical teams and clinical staff. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a complex healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications Epic certification in Beacon (Oncology), Medication Prior Authorization (Rx Prior Auth), or eMAR. Familiarity with robotic dispensing, Omnicell/Pyxis, or inventory management systems. Experience with clinical decision support (CDS) design and regulatory reporting.
