Job Summary / Outside Machinist: Capable of accomplishing the installation, maintenance, and repair of ship's propulsion and auxiliary systems including, but not limited to Steam, Gas Turbine, and Diesel propulsion systems, rudders and steering gear, elevators, and deck equipment without Supervision. Capable of accomplishing the installation repair, and maintenance of ship's fluid systems which include pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators and valves without Supervision. Analyze defects and adjusts or repairs electrical mechanical systems of outboard motors. Disassembles and inspects motor for defective parts, using mechanical hand tools. Replaces parts like gears., magneto points, piston rings and spark plugs and reassembles engine. Capable of accomplishing the testing of equipment to ensure systems meet 4E specifications, references and drawings without Supervision. Capable of accomplishing the installation and testing of various shop equipment. Must have ability to follow repair references and drawings and be proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment.
