The Renewable Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting the design, coordination, and execution of commercial and small utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV and BESS systems. This individual works closely with project managers, designers, field teams, and subcontractors to develop accurate construction drawings, resolve technical challenges, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and revising CAD drawings, reviewing designs for constructability, assisting with permitting and utility coordination, supporting procurement through material takeoffs, and providing technical support during construction and commissioning. The Renewable Project Engineer serves as a critical link between design and execution, translating concepts into buildable solutions while maintaining a high standard of quality, organization, and communication throughout the project lifecycle. Key Roles & Responsibilities: • Provide technical engineering support throughout all phases of commercial and small utility-scale renewable energy projects, from pre-construction through commissioning. • Review and interpret electrical, structural, and civil design documents to ensure constructability, code compliance, and project alignment. • Assist with system design development including PV layouts, single-line diagrams, equipment selection, and balance-of-system components. • Support permitting and AHJ processes by preparing, reviewing, and responding to plan check comments and utility interconnection requirements. • Coordinate closely with field teams to resolve design conflicts, RFIs, and unforeseen site conditions during construction. • Conduct site visits as needed to validate designs, verify field conditions, and support issue resolution. • Assist in developing material take-offs (MTOs), bills of materials (BOMs), and scope clarifications for procurement and construction. • Support quality control processes by ensuring drawings and designs meet internal standards and industry best practices. • Participate in project kickoff meetings, design reviews, and lessons-learned sessions. • Support commissioning and closeout activities, including as-built documentation and final drawing packages.
