Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions) A mental health rehabilitation worker under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional, treatment director or certified rehabilitation specialist supervise recipients to assure their health and safety; and provide rehabilitative mental health services according to the recipient's treatment plan plus: Respond immediately to emergency situations following established policies and procedures. Consult with the mental health professional and or Treatment Director on any psychiatric emergency, and follow directions as given. Provide a supportive, person-centered care, trauma informed care and strengths-based perspective with all residents. Complete all recipient skill-building and mental health interventions as assigned by the mental health professional, or Treatment Director. Closely monitor activities throughout the facility. Conduct hourly room checks throughout the facility. Regularly conduct fire drills, severe weather drills. Maintain safe access to medications for residents. Follow instructions and directions from lead staff. Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities). Must pass required Applicant Background check Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Be 21 years of age or older Meets the standards for Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker per DHS guidelines as listed below. Mental Health Rehabilitation Workers must meet the following 4 requirements: Meets one of the qualifications in A. or B. A. Have an associate of arts degree in one of the behavioral sciences or is a registered nurse without a bachelor's degree, or within the previous 10 years has: Three years personal life experience with serious mental illness. Three years of personal life experience as primary caregiver to an adult with a serious mental illness or brain injury. 2000 hours supervised paid work experience in the delivery of mental health services to adults with a serious mental illness or brain injury. B. Is fluent in the non-English language or competent in a culture of an ethnic group to which at least 20 percent of rehab worker's recipients belong, and receives monthly documented individual clinical supervision during the first 2000 hours of employment. has 18 hours of documented field supervision by a mental health professional or practitioner during the first 160 hours of contact work with recipients and at least 6 hours of field supervision quarterly during the following year. has review and co-signature of charting of recipient contacts during field supervision by a mental health professional or practitioner, and has 15 hours of additional continuing education on mental health topics during the first year of employment and 15 hours during every additional year of employment. Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful) Ability to handle confidential information responsibly. Ability to effectively relate to residents in the community and/or facility. Availability and flexibility to work additional hours, as need dictates. Skills needed: Clarity in verbal and written communication, sensitivity, accuracy, good logic, adaptability and flexibility, teamwork in an interdisciplinary setting, sense of humor, initiative, stress tolerance and safety awareness. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned): Provide individual therapy, group therapy, case management, crisis intervention that addresses the goals established on the treatment plan. Document services provided in a weekly note, individual note, and/or information note. Documentation will be completed according to NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies. Document case activity notes and important information. Develop comprehensive treatment plans that meet the individual needs of the client. Treatment plans will be completed in accordance with NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies. Complete and document assessments in accordance with NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies. Participate in weekly case staffing meetings and supervision meetings. Provide court, Department of Corrections, and other referral sources with progress reports as requested. Work cooperatively with outside agencies. Discharge duties in accordance with contracts, licensure standards, and NBH policies and procedures. Exhibits knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment. Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
