Job Summary / Basic Function: SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: The ASL Interpreter's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing communication and interpretation services to LIT's deaf and hard of hearing students. This position facilitates communication between students, faculty, and staff, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities and participation in campus activities. The ASL Interpreter reports directly to the Communication Access Provider/Student Services. This position is considered non-exempt. The Recruiter will organize and attend college events, build effective partnerships within the community, and participate in transfer fairs. This position will support the enrollment efforts of LIT by providing admissions information to prospective or new students. This is an exempt-level position, and reports directly to the AVP of Student Services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Create communication plan for outreach to prospective and applied students. Assist students with admissions process, holds, Texas success initiative assessment (TSI), and general information on major. Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials. Utilize Mainstay with different interactive & non-interactive campaigns along to engage with students. Visits middle schools, high schools, and colleges, speaks to groups and individual students, meets with school counselors to promote outreach activities; coordinates community workshops and retreats; arranges visits from prospective students and parents. Serves as a liaison to develop partnerships between LIT and local school systems. Creates a database of prospective and current students. Creates and distributes resource materials for student recruitment, analyzes trends in recruitment, develop strategies for program evaluation. Prepares reports and proposals, and responds to inquiries from students. Develops operating goals and objectives, implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate. Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times. Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the Recruitment goals within the scope of responsibility.
