Loader Operator SAN ANTONIO, TX Field POSITION SUMMARY The Loader Operator assists with operating and eventually becomes proficient in independently operating a front-end loader to support construction activities, including material handling, base preparation, asphalt placement, and site cleanup. This role requires strong attention to safety, communication, and equipment operation while supporting a productive and organized jobsite. YOUR ROLE Assists with operating a front-end loader under direct supervision to move materials such as asphalt, gravel, spoils, and debris. Operates loader to load haul trucks, transport spoils, and perform backfill with guidance from senior operators. Performs basic grading and rough subgrade prep with loader bucket. Uses loader attachments such as forks or brooms as needed. Understands bucket capacities, proper loading techniques, and truck bed specs to reduce spillage and prevent equipment damage. Completes pre- and post-operation equipment inspections; reports issues to the Foreman. Follows all PPE requirements, site-specific safety protocols, and traffic control guidance. Navigates safely in and out of staging and loading areas with support from a spotter when required. Identifies loader-specific hazards (blind spots, overhead hazards, pedestrians) and mitigates risks. Supports barricade and traffic control setups around loading zones. Keeps material yards and job sites organized during loading and unloading. Aids in site cleanup, material segregation (clean fill, spoils, contaminated materials), and staging. Assists truck drivers with safe positioning for loading. Communicates clearly with the Foreman, laborers, and truck drivers to ensure smooth operations. Perform traffic control and flagging duties as required to ensure the safety of workers, equipment, and the traveling public. Perform other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU BRING 5+ years of experience. Experience operating a front-end loader or willingness to train under supervision. Knowledge of construction materials (base material, spoils, clean fill).
