POSITION SUMMARY The Drill/Bore Operator is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and auger boring equipment to support underground utility installations. This role requires strict adherence to safety standards, the ability to follow technical bore plans, and hands-on operation of drilling equipment. The position offers growth from entry-level operation under supervision to advanced, independent performance of complex bores. YOUR ROLE • Assist the Foreman in executing day-to-day tasks and ensuring project efficiency. • Operates HDD and auger boring equipment under supervision to perform bore operations. • Reads and follows bore profiles, utility maps, and blueprints (with guidance). • Adjusts drill head rotation, pitch, and tracking based on instruction or soil conditions. • Mixes and maintains drilling fluids, ensuring correct viscosity and containment. • Executes reaming, back reaming, and pullback operations to meet project specifications. • Troubleshoots minor issues (signal loss, fluid loss) and reports complex problems. • Performs advanced HDD and auger boring operations independently, including long bores, elevation changes, and use of GPS/digital tracking. • Learns and applies safe fluid mixing, containment, and disposal procedures. • Develops advanced skills in bore strategy adjustments, tracking calibration, and fluid management. • Cleans drill equipment and bore site staging areas daily. • Assists with rod loading/unloading, greasing, and hose checks. • Inspects rods, drill heads, nozzles, and fluid lines prior to use. • Operates skid steer or forklift to load/unload equipment (if authorized). • Organizes tooling and accessories for upcoming bores. • Positions and secures drill rig for transport, ensuring safe equipment handling. • Perform other duties as assigned. POSITION SUMMARY The Bore/Drill Foreman is responsible for overseeing horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and auger boring operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with specifications. This role supervises drilling crews, manages equipment and materials, enforces safety standards, and serves as the primary field contact for inspectors, engineers, and project managers. YOUR ROLE • Operates and oversees HDD and auger boring equipment to complete standard and complex bore operations. • Interprets bore profiles, soil conditions, utility maps, and blueprints to plan bore paths. • Adjusts drill head angles, tracking, and rotation speed for alignment and accuracy. • Monitors drilling fluids, maintaining appropriate viscosity for hole stability and cooling. • Troubleshoots challenges such as fluid loss, signal interference, and soil changes. • Executes and supervises reaming, back reaming, and pullback operations for pipe installation. • Leads high-complexity bores, including long-distance, steep-grade, or urban crossings. • Collaborates with engineers to review bore plans and optimize strategies. • Mentors and trains Drill Operators, Locators, and Utility Laborers in bore setup, execution, and safety. • Leads pre-task briefings and onboarding for new crew members. • Provides performance input and supports crew evaluations. • Calibrates and verifies tracking systems and bore control technologies. • Performs and supervises preventive maintenance, inspections, and service scheduling for drill rigs and accessories. • Coordinates rig transport, loading/unloading, and fleet readiness. • Oversees fluid usage and inventory of rods, bits, and replacement parts. • Directly supervises drilling crews, assigning tasks and monitoring performance. • Provides real-time field feedback and supports workforce planning. • Evaluates technical skills and safety performance of Drill Operators, Locators, and Laborers. • Submits daily production reports, safety documentation, and as-built records. • Leads D10 meetings and contributes to EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) scorecard updates. POSITION SUMMARY The Traffic Signal Installer - Austin, Texas assembles, wires, and installs traffic signal systems, pedestrian push buttons, detection devices, and related equipment according to engineered layouts and specifications. This role works with overhead and underground wiring, operates bucket trucks and aerial lifts, and ensures all installations meet MUTCD, OSHA, and project standards. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and requires technical skill, physical stamina, and strict adherence to electrical and aerial safety practices. YOUR ROLE Read and interpret intersection layouts, engineered schematics, and overhead signal plans. Install and wire traffic signal heads, pedestrian push buttons, and detection devices per project specifications. Pull, route, and splice overhead and underground wires through conduit systems, maintaining correct color coding and terminations. Assemble and install signal poles, mast arms, and brackets using proper hardware, torque specifications, and rigging techniques. Install and configure detection systems, controllers, cabinets, and battery backup systems to ensure continuous operation. Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts to position and adjust traffic signals, ensuring correct orientation and visibility. Perform voltage, continuity, and signal testing using multimeters and other diagnostic tools. Follow MUTCD, OSHA, and company standards for aerial work, electrical safety, and traffic control. Maintain neat and organized wiring inside cabinets, junction boxes, and poles. Assist with material staging, inventory management, and loading/unloading of poles, arms, and cabinets. Document installations, inspections, and adjustments in project logs or digital tools. Identify and report layout discrepancies, material needs, or safety hazards to the Foreman or Leadman immediately. WHAT YOU BRING 1-5 years of experience in traffic signal installation, electrical work, or related construction trade. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and riser diagrams. Knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA, and TxDOT traffic signal installation standards preferred. Skilled in the safe use of bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and basic rigging practices. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to work at heights. Commitment to following safety protocols, including PPE, aerial safety, and electrical hazard prevention. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is performed outdoors year-round in all conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and other harsh weather. POSITION SUMMARY The Underground Foreman leads field crews responsible for the safe and efficient installation of underground electrical infrastructure supporting traffic signal systems. This position requires strong technical expertise in conduit and ground box installation, trenching, layout verification, and compliance with TxDOT, City of San Antonio (COSA), and OSHA standards. The Foreman is accountable for crew productivity, safety enforcement, and work quality, while also developing future leaders within the crew. YOUR ROLE • Read and interpret TxDOT, COSA, and engineered plans; verify survey layouts, grades, and installation accuracy. • Set up survey equipment, identify control points, and confirm TBMs for layout accuracy. • Oversee trenching, potholing, conduit installation, and ground box placement in compliance with specifications. • Operate or supervise use of saws, tampers, and excavation equipment; ensure proper maintenance and safe operation. • Conduct daily safety briefings, pre-task hazard assessments, and enforce PPE and OSHA requirements, including trench safety, confined space, and traffic control compliance. • Coordinate with inspectors, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to resolve field issues and ensure quality installation. • Manage material staging, deliveries, tool usage, and equipment allocation to support efficient jobsite operations. • Track time, labor, and production using HCSS/iPad systems; complete and review timecards, material logs, haul tickets, and daily reports. • Train, mentor, and coach Laborers, Operators, and Leadmen in technical skills, safety practices, and career progression. • Lead incident reporting and investigations; partner with the Safety Department on corrective action and risk reduction. • Participate in D10 meetings, report field progress, and support Superintendent with planning, scheduling, and documentation audits. • Resolve conflicts related to layout, schedule, or quality; maintain professional relationships with inspectors, project managers, and clients. WHAT YOU BRING • 5+ years of underground utility experience, including prior supervisory or lead responsibilities. • Strong knowledge of underground electrical installation, trench safety, and traffic control standards. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil and electrical plans and project specifications. • Familiarity with TxDOT, OSHA, and MUTCD requirements. • Competency in digital timekeeping and production tracking systems (e.g., HCSS). • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. • Valid Texas Driver's License (CDL preferred). • OSHA 10 (required); OSHA 30, Competent Person for Excavation, and Confined Space certifications (preferred).
