Description: Position: Structural Welder Location: 17102 LA-330 Abbeville, LA 70510 Department: Structural Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Welder with experience in fabrication and structural welding to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring welding processes and procedures are followed accurately, producing high-quality welds, and collaborating with team members to complete projects efficiently. This role requires proficiency in interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and applying industry-standard techniques across various materials and positions. Key Responsibilities: Verify welding processes and procedures required for each project in coordination with the Shop Foreman and QA/QC Representative. Ensure documentation is noted on fabrication travelers and drawings. Assist with and verify fit-up of components prior to weld-out as necessary. Complete and inspect all weld passes to meet required specifications and standards. Accurately interpret drawings, welding symbols, and understand weld map and Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) requirements. Select appropriate welding wire and adjust welding machines according to job specifications. Operate arc gouging equipment as needed. Properly use hand tools, grinders, and welding equipment with safety and precision. Assist welders and fitters in cleaning, moving, clamping, holding, and preparing workpieces. Perform welding on carbon, alloy, and stainless steel materials, including plates, sheets, shapes, and fabricated steel parts. Produce welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions using gas-shielded flux core wire welding procedures, ensuring strength and appearance meet acceptable standards. Clean completed welds using grinders or brushes where required. Apply appropriate welding sequences to minimize shrinkage or distortion during fabrication. Inspect and maintain welding equipment (e.g., welding machines, leads, flux-core boxes, grinders) at the start of every shift. Clean and stencil/stamp completed welds per specifications, ensuring each weld is marked appropriately (3/8" from the weld and every three feet along weld length). Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in fabrication (preferred). Demonstrated experience in FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) procedures, including 6GR. Experience with welding subsea equipment is highly desirable. Strong understanding of structural fabrication and welding techniques. The Welder is ultimately responsible for the quality and completeness of their workmanship. Key Responsibilities Use pipe cutting machine, or if unavailable, use beveling machine to cut pipe to the required length. Upon completion of every weld, clean and apply stencil/stamp (3/8" from every weld). Vessel fabrication/welding requires stenciling every three (3) feet of weld length. Communicate with the helper/rigger regarding necessary materials or equipment for each task. Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and heavy hammers. Straighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press, and push/pull methods. Ensure daily submission of accurate oxygen and acetylene bottle counts to offshore management.
