Overview: Axient, dba Millennium Engineering and Integration is seeking a Principle Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at at Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC), Edwards AFB Ca. Responsibilities: Will be working at the engineering leadership level position and will perform the full spectrum of Engineering duties. Requires an advanced understanding of Engineering principles. Applies knowledge of engineering technology and systems engineering concepts to the specific technical tasks .Application of Engineering principles and Systems Engineering processes. Must be able to work and lead efforts in a dynamic and multi-task work environment by prioritizing work and coordinating task/project schedules. Must be able to manage and decompose requirements in specific technical areas. Strong communications and ability to work in a team environment a must. Experience in one or more of the following technology areas are highly desirable: telemetry data systems, data processing, data storage systems, or system test and validation Employee exercises a high degree of originality and sound judgment in formulating, evaluating, and correlating broad engineering research concepts, guiding the analysis of unique problems. Employee may apply standard methodologies but is responsible for innovative thinking, problem solving, and independent judgment in resolving complex issues. Generate requirements and perform requirements decomposition to fully design, test and support flight instrumentation systems on current and future research projects. Develop aircraft Instrumentation systems for NASA research vehicles Knowledge in the following instrumentation sensor applications: strain gages accelerometers pressure transducers thermocouples RTDs pitot-static systems Familiarity with data acquisition systems (i.e. Teletronics) Read and understand electrical schematics Familiar with AutoCAD or equivalent for creating, modifying or updating electrical drawings Support the use of the TTC data processing systems in the checkout of instrumentation and ground test efforts. Coordinate with the mission control room personnel in the development and design of the displays, development of the data cycle maps, calibration files and run files. Create reports and other documentation necessary to describe the results of studies and/or tests. Ability to lead system or subsystem teams in all aspects of design and implementation to include design reviews, safety analysis, and all documentation development and approval Lead peer review of other projects to meet NASA requirements and safe operations Analyze project objectives and requirements, develop plans for conducting projects, provide support for the project safety review process, including participation in the development of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, documentation of hazards, and the specification and implementation of mitigations to those hazards. Review project instructions to ascertain requirements, specifications, procedures, objectives, equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions. Set up and conduct tests or studies of complete systems, components, or concepts under research test conditions to investigate proposals for improving performance or other factors; or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control with some supervisory direction and review. Record test or report procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes. Create reports and other documentation necessary to describe the results of studies and/or tests. Analyze indicated and calculated results in relation to requirements, specifications, or test objectives. Mentors engineers in specific technical areas and/or the system engineering process and project management principles. Perform work in accordance with NASA ISO AS9100 procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Follow the safe practices and rules contained in the Safety and Health plan and other such rules and practices communicated on the job. Report status to Senior Technical Lead and/or Task Focal Point in standardized format on or before due date. Qualifications: Must be a U.S. citizen. Must pass drug testing. 10-15 years of experience Must be able to read and write effectively in English. Strong communication skills and ability to work as a part of a larger team is required. Overview: Axient (formerly QuantiTech) and its joint venture partners are seeking a Wind Tunnel Test Analyst to support our customer atArnold AFB inTullahoma, TN in the subsonic/transonic/supersonic/hypersonic wind tunnels. Responsibilities: Duties will include, but are not limited to:A Wind Tunnel Test Analyst must possess the knowledge and skills to understand and apply a variety of analytical techniques to formulate and solve problems; plan for future technologies; and define requirements for systems and test programs in the transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic wind tunnels at AEDC.Provide expertise and recommendations to reach a near final solution for test analysis and reporting prior to the Government delivering statements of capability (SOC), data packages, test analysis results, and final products to customers. Support the integration of strategically-focused activities to create new and enhanced RDT capabilities that support next generation DoD systems. Provide evaluation and analysis in support of acquisition programs from concept, through ground test and flight. Support tasks associated with investment, acquisition, technology, and other CTF test programs as required. Assist in defining requirements, assessing test conditions, addressing test cell /test article interactions, evaluating test article performance, and formally documenting the results. Assist in generating analysis objectives, success criteria, and measures of performance which support the evaluation of aerospace weapon systems; participate in CTF test planning; and support all phases of testing Support analysis-technique development efforts to advance the state-of-the-art analysis capabilities at AEDC, particularly in the field of photo-optical measurement systems and non-intrusive diagnostics. Specific knowledge and expertise are desired, particularly in one or more of the fields of store separation; air vehicle stability and control; aircraft performance; propulsion-inlet integration; hypersonic aerodynamics; statistical methods and statistically defensible analysis techniques; photo-optical measurement systems to include Pressure and Temperature sensitive paintShift and weekend work is required occasionally during testing periods.Occasional travel to support testing activities is possible. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements and Desired Qualifications:A Bachelor of Science in Aerospace engineering, Mechanical engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university.An advanced degree or at least 3 years prior experience in ground testing or flight testingExperience with photo-optical measurement techniques, non-intrusive diagnostics, and image processing is strongly desired. Specific experience with Pressure or Temperature sensitive paints, IR thermography, photogrammetry, schlieren, etc., are particularly applicable.Background or coursework related to the technical areas described above, as well as statistical analysis, is a plus.Must be proficient in scientific computing and programming (Python, Matlab, C/C++, etc.)Must be able to obtain or have an active and transferrable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.Must utilize resources effectively to accomplish mission.Focused adherence to safety and security requirements in an office-based environment is required.The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with senior staff and peers is required.
