A Brief Summary of This Position: Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, Generation, and with a dotted line to the VP + Business Partner of ESS, the Financial and Business Analyst is responsible for analytical support for the assigned businesses within the Infrastructure group. Responsibilities will include forecasting, profitability analysis, preparation of the annual operating plan, and preparation of the annual strategic plan. The position is responsible for the monitoring and reporting of SG&A expenses coordinating with department managers in reviewing the information. This position is also responsible for providing ad hoc analysis to support financial forecasts, internal management reporting, providing administrative/accounting guidance, benchmarking and monitoring of key performance indicators. The person in this role will work closely with the business personnel to understand and explain performance variances and trends. This role will also be responsible for working with Valmont Data Analytics, IT teams, and foreign teams to systemize data collection, data usage, and data visualization for key reports. Finally, this position will be responsible for supporting the financial functions for the North America Solar business. Essential Functions: This position reports into the Vice President of Finance, Generation, with a dotted line to the VP + Business Partner for ESS and has no direct or indirect reports Up to 20% travel (domestic and international) including overnight stays Consolidates and regularly updates business unit financial forecasts Prepares accurate, timely financial reports using Excel and OneStream that compare and analyze current results with budgeted results and future forecasts Consolidates and analyzes business unit Annual Operating Plan and coordinates the administrative budgets Provides data-driven recommendations for costs reductions and margin enhancement opportunities (Generation) Compiles financial information for annual Strategic Plan (Generation) Reviews and analyzes cost of goods sold, pricing, and margins for North America Solar. Communicates the findings to management in a clear, concise manner for informational and decision-making purposes. (Generation) Owns the North America Solar financial forecast and champions business process improvements for this growing business. Also provides administrative and accounting guidance for North America Solar, representing this unit to the rest of the Valmont finance organization. Updates business performance (KPI) metrics for measurement, comparison, and ongoing analysis in areas such as SCOT, specific costs, working capital levels, quality of earnings, as well as strength of backlog and pipeline Makes recommendations on improvement of forecasting process including analyzing new tools for Financial Planning and Analysis OneStream domain expert for the division Supports the development of the data warehouse to collect useful data in support of building actionable/insightful financial and business information Lead data refinement and improvement initiatives Query, extract, sanitize & analyze data to help support financial and business decisions Prepares financial slides and supporting documentation for senior management (Valmont Way, AOP, AOP+, Strat, BOD) Prepares internal financial reports and supplemental financial information to assist Senior Management in decision-making Analyze data to identify trends and improvement ideas for the business Track key global cost drivers and analyze actual prices vs. indices and industry benchmarks (steel, transportation, etc.) Document and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of current processes Work with the site personnel to gather data and explanations to support analyses Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Data Analytics, or Finance with 3+ years relevant experience or Associate's Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or 7+ years of relevant experience High proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel and Power Point skills High business acumen, creativity and analytical thinking and with proficiency in data visualization and dashboard skills (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) Strong accounting and finance skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines Highly motivated and self-directed worker with the ability to work independently within the context of a matrix organization Ability to manage objectives in a multinational team environment, overcoming communication and cultural barriers to achieve business goals Ability to travel up to 20% to Valmont domestic and international sites requiring overnight stays Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications: Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment with an annual revenue base of $50M or greater Two years of general ledger accounting experience including account reconciliations, journal entries, and a basic understanding of internal controls Experience with IFS, OneStream, SalesForce, QAD, and Jira systems Strong process improvement background and credentials including Six Sigma International business experience Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant Valmont does not discriminate against any employee or applicant in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, genetic information, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
