This Senior Research Assistant will be part of the Proteomics Initiative, dedicated to the development of superior models of childhood cancers and mechanism-based translational science, with the aim to enable improved therapies for patients. As experienced laboratory scientist, you will lead studies in immuno-proteo-genomic profiling effort around childhood and young adult sarcomas. The project will build on comprehensive genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics with the goal of identifying carcinogenic and immunologic/physiologic mechanisms as well as new therapeutic targets. You will have a central role in the analysis of tumor samples using advanced analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry proteomics and single-cell protein and nucleic acid profiling. You will establish SOPs, develop analytical methods, optimize experimental protocols, and propose new approaches. You will be part of a collaborative effort in an ambitious project and are therefore expected to be organized, flexible, and an excellent team player. This role is an opportunity to join a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary team with the prospective of implementing innovative research and discovery tools in order to advance cancer science and treatments for children and adults with refractory cancers. You will assist laboratory head in performing research activities in collaboration with internal/external personnel to complete science-based projects. You will determine methods and procedures of making detailed observations, analyzing data and interpreting results according to laboratory procedures. You will independently design, plan, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement. You will be responsible for scheduling staff and ensuring timeliness of work; may contribute to the performance appraisal process; may direct technician/clinical staff in the conduct of lab experimentation including operation of lab equipment. You will maintain a high level of expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and implement a quality assurance plan.
