Job Summary

The Fitness Instructor provides on-site or virtual (during COVID-19 pandemic) group exercise instruction to Health Initiatives program participants at our family and efficiency studio communities in North and South Austin. We are currently recruiting experienced fitness instructors trained in cardio & strength. Any of the following class formats could apply: Bootcamp, Body Pump or Cross Fit. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community health and wellness and be motivated to deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction to vulnerable populations. This position is part-time hourly. Fitness Instructors typically work Monday-Thursday (mornings/afternoons, 10am3pm, or evenings, 6:30pm-8:30pm) with some variation.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for fitness participants from various backgrounds and skill levels, ages 18+
  • Provide high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction including modifications to exercise routines when necessary
  • Manage and maintain class sign-in sheets
  • Opening/closing duties at worksite(s)
  • Assist with room set-up and break-down before and after class
  • Establish and maintain on-going communication with Health Program Supervisor, Health Initiatives Manager, and FC childcare providers (where applicable)
  • Demonstrate and promote punctuality/clocking in and out
  • Other duties as assigned
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Virtual Classes - Proficiency or ability to lean Zoom online platform.
  • Virtual Classes - Ability to instruct online
  • Provide appropriate music for class

Qualifications And Skills
  • Current certification or proof of exercise training course completion
  • Prior experience teaching group fitness classes
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Reliable means of transportation
  • Prior experience working with and/or an awareness of the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged families
  • CPR/First Aid Certified preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at some locations
  • Bilingual (English/Arabic) a plus
