Job Description

Responsible for assessing 1st line business processes and controls used to monitor and test for adherence with Federal and State regulatory requirements. The role collaborates with management to identify compliance issues and corrective action plans, and communicates the scope and severity of concerns identified to the applicable level of management.

  • Collaborate with management to identify compliance issues and corrective action plans, and communicate the scope and severity of concerns identified to the applicable level of management.

How You'll Do It

  • Manage activities of the Compliance Testing staff (direct/indirect), taking responsibility for the overall integrity and quality of the work product.
  • Collaborate with various levels of management within the areas of responsibilities, including the risk functions within the First Line of Defense. Evaluate and test the adequacy of business processes and practices with respect to risks, controls, and regulatory requirement identifying gaps and issues.
  • Monitor and validate the status of corrective actions taken by business partners to remediate concerns identified in compliance testing results.
  • Create and maintain testing work papers and supporting documentation. Write reports regarding compliance testing results.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of DFS, banking industry, compliance concepts, regulations, and respective requirements and identify opportunities to enhance overall team development (e.g. mentoring, developing case study presentations, filtering and escalating feedback from the broader team, sharing webinar, financial/compliance industry articles, conference take-a-ways not available to others etc.)
  • Proficiently execute complex reviews timely (e.g. design a test plan, evaluate control effectiveness, create and maintain testing work papers and supporting documentation, draft written reports, monitor status and validate corrective action taken by the business to remediate concerns) with transferable skills to other Compliance Testing specialty areas
  • Support Compliance Management in developing, implementing, and maintaining an enterprise-wide Compliance Program
  • Communicate and escalates concerns, potential risks, issues, or deficiencies identified that may have enterprise-wide impact to drive a culture of compliance
  • Leverage data analytics to develop testing approach; analyze output to target testing activities
  • Maintain on-going communication with the Compliance Testing Manager and line of business prior to, during and after reviews
  • Support internal audits and regulatory exams as needed

Qualifications You'll Need

The Basics

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or legal
  • 4+ years of experience in compliance, Audit, compliance testing, and/or BSA/AML

Bonus Points If You Have

  • 6+ years of experience in testing, quality assurance, and/or audit
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist
  • Certified Internal Auditor
